More..
Salers is officially classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France. Furthermore, it is the centre of the famous Cantal cheese and of the Salers cattle breed, which of course reflects on the gastronomy. In Salers, you will find nearly everything: various squares with terraces, small restaurants with regional food, galleries, and various museums. In the countryside, you can pay a visit to various cheese farms, this without any obligation. From Salers, which is located at a height of 980 meters, there are various shorter and longer defined hiking routes in this special natural environment, whereas the local Tourist Information Office also organises guided walking tours. You can also choose for a castle or cheese tour, which also leads you along various mountain tops, such as the Puy Violet, Puy de la Tourte, Puy Mary and others.
