Herdade da Marmeleira is a 250-year-old historic gentlemen farm ('quinta') situated in the province Alentejo in the middle of a beautiful nature park around Évoramonte, approx. 30 km. northeast from Évora.

The quinta was rebuilt, still keeping its style into a holiday park with eight apartments. A wonderful communal swimming pool is located within 150m from the apartments. The quinta lies on top of a hill and by this have a view over a beautiful broad and stilly landscape. There are a number of collective facilities and activities. There is also a communal dining room, a small book of arts library, a big concert- and conference area and diverse studios. The Herdade da Marmeleira is therefore ideal for nature, music and art lovers with or without a liking for Portugal.
Direct from the apartment beautiful walks and cycling trips can be made; the estate is a paradise for hikers, culture lovers and botanic! Interesting places to visit are among others Évora (recorded on the World Estate list of the Unesco), 6000 years old stone circles, the marble quarries of Vila Viçosa, the strongholds of Elvas, Estremoz and Arraiolos and diverse museums: they are all within a half hours drive.
From the house, you can go by car to the broad sand beaches of the Alentejo (1,5 hrs) situated along the west coast of Portugal between the Algarve and Lisbon: not through the traffic, but through a beautiful, unripe area. Even by bus, you can go to Lisbon (1hr45min.) a visit well worth it. The climate in Alentejo, even in the eastern part, is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Through this the vegetation is greener than in Extremadura, the Spanish region next to it.
Beside the ingredients for a cultural and active holiday, the Herdade the Marmeleira has something rare in abundance: Peace.
