The water sports areas Grou and Eernewoude are very close by. Surrounding, are great natural and water environments, such as “De oude Venen”, which has been nominated to become a national park. There are excellent facilities for fishing, sailing, surfing, biking and hiking. In the village there is a supermarket, a hotel, café-restaurant and a snack bar. The two museums in Warten are definitely worth taking the time to visit.
Museums
“Het Earmhus” this museum used to be the former shelter for the impoverished. Nowadays you will find an interesting collection on fishing here as well as an example of an authentic inner house.
Farm museum "de Friese Greidboerderij", is the only surviving old farm typically for this region. It was completely renovated in 1994, back to resemble the state it was in of 1890. You can also find authentic tools dating from that period exhibited.
